Take it
A note from Lily:
After almost two years of being unable to smell or taste due to Covid-19, I wrote take it. You probably would not have thought of it being connected to that whilst reading it, but it is about losing my senses and how these things that seem so normal in our daily lives are quickly taken for granted. I realised through losing my smell and taste that there are different ways to appreciate all my body does for me. I started focusing on texture instead of taste and smell while eating, creating a whole new experience. Now that I have regained a tiny part of my senses, I appreciate them even more. In this poem, I emphasise the wonders of daily life and how we should take a moment to stand still, look back, and appreciate these. Life is magical; you just have to be present to feel it.
Naturally, the beauty of poetry is that you can read and interpret it in your own way. This poem may resemble something totally different for you, and feel free to share that with me. I always love to hear which thoughts and emotions come up for you whilst reading poetry. This might be perfect if you’re looking for a special gift for a loved one! These are unique and limited-pressed prints. This means that they are pressed, using an old printing technique, on beautiful heavy organic handmade paper. This process ensures that every single piece is unique. They are beautiful when framed but also beautiful without. Click here to contact Lily to buy Take It.
