Zorgen
*Dutch Poem
A note from Lily:
This was the first poem I ever wrote, and I wrote this Dutch one for my mother. I barely ever wrote in Dutch afterwards, but it felt right to write in my mother tongue to my mother. The beauty of the Dutch word “Zorgen” is that it has two translations meaning either; worries or taking care (of). The idea behind this poem is that peace finally arrives after a long and challenging period of battling through struggles. All the sadness and pain are left behind, substituted by happiness and joy. I tell her not to worry because if there is a day in which she feels like she cannot carry on, she will know that I am by her side and I will take care of her.
Naturally, the beauty of poetry is that you can read and interpret it in your own way. This poem may resemble something totally different for you, and feel free to share that with me. I always love to hear which thoughts and emotions come up for you whilst reading poetry. This might be perfect if you’re looking for a special gift for a loved one, your mom or dad, for example, since it is written in a gender-neutral way! These are unique and limited-pressed prints. This means that they are pressed, using an old printing technique, on beautiful heavy organic handmade paper. This process ensures that every single piece is unique. They are beautiful when framed but also beautiful without. Click here to contact Lily to buy Zorgen.
