The Moon

A note from Lily:

I wrote the moon after a call with my darling friend Sina. We met in Australia when we were 18, both solo travelling, having one month left there. After our first yoga session on Bondi Beach, we hung out on the rooftop and started chatting. I immediately knew that she was someone special. We spent most of our time together in Sydney during those weeks and became very close. Luckily, Sina lives in Germany, and I live(d) in the Netherlands, which enabled us to meet up relatively easily. However, when we are away from each other, we text daily and try to call as often as we can. During this specific call, we were both looking at the moon at the same time, far away, yet still feeling so connected and close by. Ever since, the moon has felt like our personal connector. She keeps us close. This poem is all about connection, (long-distance) friendship, and my incredible friend Sina for me.
